I have always lived right in town, but when I became an adult I decided to move to the countryside. I really love the landscapes of my Tuscan hills, and I had the good fortune to marry a man who thinks exactly like me. My husband was born and lived in Rome until he met me, but he does not want to live anywhere else but here.
Our house, a barn built in the 1300s, was in complete ruins when we purchased it, so we restored it throught and throught.
We have a daughter, Claudia, she is 11 years old. When she was born I left my job: until then I had worked in leather for major Italian brands such as Gucci, Prada and Ferragamo. You can not even believe it, but I never even owned one of these designer pieces, they just do not interest me.
It's a completely different situation when it comes to my home, which for me is a sickness: I love old things and old markets, restoration, finding old things that strike my fancy. For me, every old object has history, content, culture, and I am absolutely fascinated. I declined to buy new clothes and shoes, but when faced with the temptation of an old dusty book or weathered wood, I cannot resist ...
I am also very passionate about the Internet, and I recently discovered American DIY blogs. Finally I found many women who, like me, love to rummage through junk, they enjoy fixing things, not afraid to use a drill or a sander!
While visiting these blogs I came in contact with Karen and we started to exchange information about our lives and our countries, both similar and diverse. I think it was when I said that in Italy we are suffering from severe economic crisis - something which many in America are unaware of- Karen had the idea of a blog to tell each other, and anyone who would want to read it, about our two lives: one of several small American towns, the other from a hill overlooking Florence, Tuscany, Italy!
CIAO! Sono Daniela, una fiorentina purosangue, nata proprio nel centro di Firenze, Italia.
Ho sempre vissuto in città, ma da quando sono diventata adulta ho deciso di trasferirmi in campagna. Amo moltissimo il paesaggio delle mie colline toscane, ed ho avuto la fortuna di sposare un uomo che la pensa esattamente come me. Mio marito è nato e vissuto a Roma fino a quando non ha conosciuto me, ma credo non vorrebbe vivere in nessun altro luogo.
La nostra casa, un fienile del 1300, era solo un rudere quando lo abbiamo comprato, e lo abbiamo dovuto ristrutturare competamente. Si trova sulle colline di Firenze, vicino alla città ma circondata completamente da olivi. Produciamo anche il nostro olio di oliva bio!

nel settore dei pellami con le più importanti griffes italiane, come Gucci, Prada e Ferragamo. Potete non crederci, ma non ho mai posseduto nemmeno un oggetto di questi marchi, semplicemente non mi interessavano.
Il discorso cambia completamente quando parliamo della mia casa: per me è una vera malattia! Amo gli oggetti antichi ed i mercatini, il restauro, scoprire vecchi oggetti che colpiscano la mia fantasia. Per me ogni vecchia cosa ha la sua storia, il suo contentuo e la sua cultura, ed io ne sono totalmente affascinata! Posso tranquillamente rinunciare a comprarmi nuovi abiti o scarpe, ma quando cado in tentazione per un vecchio libro ammuffito o per un legno tarlato, non tento nemmeno di resistere...
Sono anche molto appassionata di Internet, e solo di recente ho scoperto i blog creativi americani: finalmente ho trovato molte donne che, come me, amano frugare tra le cianfrusaglie, trasformare oggetti e non hanno paura ad usare un trapano o una scartatrice!
Visitando questi blogs sono venuta in contatto con Karen, ed abbiamo iniziato a scambiarci informazioni sulle nostre vite e sui nostri paesi, contemporaneamente simili e diversissimi. Penso che sia stato quando le ho detto che anche l'Italia sta attraversando una gravissima crisi economica - cosa che probabilmente molti americani ignorano- che a Karen è venuta l'idea di un blog per raccontare l'una all'altra, ed a chiunque vorrà leggerlo e contribuire, le nostre due vite: una da alcune piccole cittadine in America, e l'altra da una collina nei pressi di Firenze, Toscana, Italy!
